Care and Training
Invest time in Training
It's the key to fabulous relationship with your companion.
Dogs who have a solid obedience education and have good manners with other people and dogs are a joy to live with. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog.
Your puppy’s training begins with Hills West Labradoodles and you will have to continue with training when you bring your new Labradoodle puppy home. The continued foundation you lay are the keys to having these wonderful qualities a lifelong part of your doodles temperament. Labradoodles are intelligent and left on their own they will tend to find ways to entertain themselves that may to be so pleasing to their owners. Most pet problems have to do with the training they receive, lack of practical expectations with clear boundaries set and the excess freedom they are given in the home. Labradoodles enjoy training, playtime, and direction. Set clear boundaries, use fair discipline and consistent redirection along with lots of love to ensure years of joy together.
Whether you are considering using your Labradoodle for service or therapy work or a family companion, remember training any young puppy takes time and requires patience, but you'll be amazed at how quickly your Hills West multi-generation Labradoodle will learn. Take the time to establish your loving authority early on and you will reap the benefits for years to come. These dogs are sweet natured, eager to please and will work their way into your heart immediately.
Treats are something a dog “works” for and should only be given for performing a command. Use small pieces at a time as it doesn’t take much for them to feel rewarded as they are happy to please you. Select treats that will be a healthy addition to your puppy’s diet. Most treats on the market are “chemically treated junk food”. Ask us and we will guide you to some healthy alternatives.
